Joseph Haydn (1732-1809):

       Haydn was an Austrian Composer who is known as the father of the string quartet. He had two successful trips to England and made over a 100 symphonies. 

The instrumentation of the string Quartet was as follows: 

  • Two violins 

  • Viola

  • Cello 

Structure of String Quartet: 1st movement was fast, 2nd movement was slow, 3rd movement was a moderate dance and the 4th movement was fast.
