Fanny Mendelssohn ( 1805-1847)

She was the sister of the famous conductor Felix Mendelssohn and was discouraged by her father from pursuing a career in music because she was a woman. Even though she was greatly discourgaed this did not stop her from pursuing a career in music, she wrote a few large scale works and but mostly piano and vocal music pieces. Her music is intended for performances at the mendelssohn residence.
